Global Technical Operations (GTO) Summer Internships 2026:
The Global Technical Operations (GTO) organization at AstraZeneca is excited to offer summer internship opportunities for 2026 at both our Gaithersburg, MD and Frederick, MD sites. We are looking for talented and enthusiastic undergraduate and graduate students to join GTO at AstraZeneca for the summer of 2026, focusing on the commercialization and on-market aspects of AstraZeneca's biological products. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and innovative environment.
Roles in GTO will fall under the following disciplines:
Manufacturing Process: Gain insights into the manufacturing processes of AstraZeneca's biological products, including process optimization and efficiency improvements.
Analytical Science: Work oncutting-edgeanalytical techniques and technologies to support the development and quality control of biological products.
Data Science, Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence: Contribute to the digital transformation of technical operations through the application of artificial intelligence and other advanced digital technologies.
Regulatory Submission: Learn about the regulatory requirements and processes involved in the submission of biological products for approval.
Combination Products: Gain exposure to the unique challenges and opportunities associated withon-market drug-devicecombination products.
Technology Transfer: Contribute to the transfer of technologies between different sites and partners, ensuring seamless integration and knowledge exchange.
New Manufacturing Technology: Critically evaluate new manufacturing technology and automation for suitability in Operations, creating standard(s) for this technology across the network
Internship Experience:
Summer interns will have the opportunity to activelylead a projectalongside experienced technical managers, gaining valuable insights into the operations of GTO projects. This hands-on experience will provide interns with a holistic understanding of technical operations within AstraZeneca, while also allowing them to make meaningful contributions to ongoing projects.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or master's majoring in a relevant engineering field, pharmaceutical sciences, data science, or a related discipline.
Candidates must have a graduation date set after August 2026.
US Work Authorization is required at time of application.
This role will not be providing CPT support.
Ability to report onsite to Gaithersburg, MD or Frederick, MD 4-5 days a week. This role will not provide relocation assistance.
Frederick, MD interns must adhere to a June 1 2026 start date.
Strong academic performance and a genuine passion for technical operations and the pharmaceutical industry.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with an eagerness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Compensation Range: $37-41.50/hr
